Hi,I am Diwashish Biswas (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am an African Amer female in late 20 s overweight with Anemia and an underactive thyroid. I have always had average blood pressure until I recently started taking iron pills (ferrous sulfate?), magnessium, selenium, Biotin, and vitamin D. Within a month my BP went from 120/77 to 53/103. Can these supplements be contributing to this change?
No, iron tablets and other multivitamins don't cause increase in BP. Yet, being overweight is a major risk factor for hypertension. You should manage your weight within normal levels by workout and also by dietary modifications, take low protein, low carb diet with reduce quantity of every meal.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Iron is not known to increase BP. Since you are overweight, you need to start exercising regularly and control your diet (less salt intake). Also, keep a blood pressure chart, measure and write your blood pressure twice a day, morning and evening. If your blood pressure remains higher than 140/90, visit your GP.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
