Suggest Remedy For Pain And Swelling In Pelvic Area Post Injury

Question: A little over a week ago I flipped my quad on top of myself and took a rather hard hit to the pelvic area. (The quad landed on top off me and the handle bar hit the top left side of my vagina) The bruising has finally gone down some, but their is still a golf ball sized swelling under the surface. I'm wondering if i should go up to the hospital or if this swelling will go down on its own with time? Is this normal after a blunt force trauma to a sensitive part like that?

Brief Answer:
Most likely a hematoma.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query and picture. It is most likely a hematoma (blood clot). It is usual in blunt trauma. It may take time to get absorbed. You can apply ice packs for 4 to 5 days followed by mild heat application. Ice pack you can apply on and off for 20 minutes at a time 3 to 4 times a day.
You can take over the counter NSAIDs like ibuprofen for pain and discomfort.

If it is troublesome or if you have discomfort on urination then approach a gynecologist for surgical evacuation of hematoma. Else I think this will resolve on its own.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
