Posted on Fri, 13 Nov 2015
Question: I have been taking 1 5mg Medroxyprohesterone Tam for 3 months now and during this time I have gain several kilos around my midriff and bloating of the stomachs. I am also suffering severe migraines every3 weeks which last 3 days and require lots of medication to get me through. This leave me drugged hungover and extremely tired. Is it time for me to stop the medication. I take it with 1/2 XXXXXXX of Sandrena. 1/2 because 1 XXXXXXX swells the cysts in my breat and causes pain. What do you suggest.

Brief Answer:
You can stop it for a few weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The headache and gain in weight is likely to be related to the hormone that you are taking. It is best to stop the medication for a few weeks and let your body restore the normal hormonal balance. This will reduce the migraines and you will get a chance to reduce the weight also.
Do consult your gynecologist for proper time to stop taking these.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
You can take natural alternatives.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
You can consider taking herbal preparations like phyto estrogens after consulting your gynecologist. Commonest natural alternatives are compounds containing isoflavones and lignanes. These include soy, flax seeds, red clover, whole cereals, whey proteins, legumes and green leafy vegetables. You can also use menopro powder 2 spoonfuls with milk twice daily. Other measure are regular light exercise like yoga or walking, use of evening primrose oil.
Hope my answer is helpful.
