I can understand your concern.
Your father is taking correct drugs.
Apart from drugs, following treatment modalities are useful in COPD.
1. Smoking cessation should be done as soon as possible if he is smoker.
2. Enroll him in Pulmonary Rehabilitation center where chest physiotherapy and deep breathing exercises are done.
3. Get done adult Pulmonary vaccination with vaccines like pneumococcal and Influenza to prevent recurrent respiratory tract infection.
So consult doctor and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your father. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Yes, fever and lung infection can alter PFT findings.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, he should not take these drugs for such longer duration. 10 days of duration is sufficient for him.
And yes fever and lung infection can alter PFT findings. This causes worsening of lung inflammation and hence decrease the values on PFT.
To prevent drug resistance and use of inappropriate drugs, better to get done sputum culture and sensitivity report.
Culture report will isolate the causative organism and sensitivity report will guide about effective antibiotic treatment.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
