Question: Hi I am not sure who specifically to ask-
I have been living in Cosra Rica for 9 winters. The first winter i had a few episodes of unknown fever that lasted 4-5 days each. Three years later I started having digestive issues- diarhea mainly for weeks at a time. Then some Rosacea as well. I went on a paleo type diet and that helped a lot. This past summer i had many tests done and discovered i had lyme and some bad bacterias as well as blastocystis. I was put on antimicrobials for 6 weeks and then Alinia for 30 days. After just stopping the Alinia a week ago I have started having heart palpitations. I discovered that the home i used had the Chagas bugs seldomly inside. Went to doc here who said chagas unlikely but I feel like something is happening in my heart like maybe i did get chagas and the alinia stirred it up or something- very scared that i could have serious heart issues soon?

Brief Answer:
Possible Chagas Disease?Need Confirmation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I can certainly understand your concerns.

Considering your symptoms, the possibility of Chagas disease is high.

These symptoms are not related to stoppage of Alinia.

This parasite is known to affect heart causing conduction blocks and heart muscle inflammation.

For confirmation, I advise you to get Hemagen Chagas test or Ortho T cruzi ELISA Test .

Also, a complete 2D echo and 24 hour holter heart monitoring is mandatory in your case to assess the cardiac conduction and myocardial system.

Further management is based on test results.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
