Question : I have been diagnosed with a urinary tract infection with a inguinal lymphadenopathy on the right side of my vagina. The UTI is subsiding as well as the i l. But the i l is still "popped out" with very little pain only when I push on it. It is diminishing in size but has been there for almost 4 weeks. It feels soft, not a hard ball. I do have a doctor appt scheduled, but my anxiety level needs to be delt with earlier. I believe it is caused by exposure to septic tank like semi-solids on my hands from cleaning a grey water home system tank (not sexual activity). I am 67 yrs old and have not had sex with my husband (or anyone else) in over a year. I am a generally very healthy person. Please tell me it may not be cancer.

Read and understood the history about your age, UTI, inguinal lymph nodes on right, tenderness, diminish in size but have been there for 4 weeks - feels soft - your thoughts about possibilities and so on.
I can understand the anxiety you may be in.
It may not be a cancer for the following reason:
- There is definite history of UTI
- It is there only for 4 weeks
- Soft and tender
- No history of any mass or ulcer or vaginal discharge that you have mentioned.
Please insist for ultrasonography guided FNAC to get a proper diagnosis; biopsy only if required to get or to rule-out the definitive diagnosis.
Internal examination by a Gynecologist and further tests as may be directed by your Doctors.
