Suggest Treatment For Absent Seizures

Question: I had a brain aneurysm and stroke in 2006 and had been on Dilantin and generic lamictal but have started having absent seizures. I've been to the doctor who has now put me on name brand lamictal. What else can I do?

I am sorry for the symptoms you are suffering.
It seems your doctor has made the right choise, you should wait two more weeks for lamictal to be effective.You can increase it dosage till 100mg twice a day.
If lamictal isn't effective till two weeks you should start carbamazepine.

I've been on 200 mg of lomotragine twice a day for at least 5 years. Just went to a generic. Also what are the influences of alcohol? I had a 16 ounce beer Friday night then had the event Sunday. Could the alcohol have been the cause? I had an alcohol induced seizure 2 years ago.

unfortunately alcoholic abuse even in small dosage can cause epileptic seizure.
All energic drinks can cause seizure.
In my opinion you should consult your neurologist schedule an EEG and after that take decision about medication.
