I am not diabetic. My bowel movements have been normal except I have had some constipation. I do drink alcohol, but haven't for 17 days , but had been drinking it pretty heavily until my doctors appointment three weeks ago.

Hi,
Thanks for the additional information.
Nexium is a good medication and provides good relief from symptoms of heartburn and belching.
Since you have symptoms in spite of taking Nexium and Tums for three weeks and also that you drank heaving prior to that, an upper GI endoscopy has to be done.
Dietary/lifestyle modifications are also important for complete relief.
Avoid coffee, citrus, chocolates , fatty food, alcohol.
Eat smaller but frequent meals and go to bed at least 2-3 hours after food.

Dr.R.K.
