Question : My 4 year old daughter has blood trapped under her skin from an old injury and it's been there for almost a year now. Her pediatrician said that it will go away with time, but this has been way too much time. I am wondering, how much time can this take to heal. Is there anything that can be done to help it go away. I can't call her doctor until Monday and for some reason it's really started to bother me over the weekend since there has been no progress. I switched doctors because I didn't like her it takes time answer with everything but haven't asked her new doctor about it yet.

Brief Answer:
Blood under skin

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you've had to deal with this. I agree that it is frustrating. It actually does take a long time for the blood to be reabsorbed. In any case, there really isn't anything a primary care pediatrician can do for it. As a matter of covering all the bases, I recommend consulting with a pediatric dermatologist. They are better equipped to deal with pediatric skin issues and may have a solution for you.

Good luck.
