Question: I have been diagnosed with my elofibrosis ? I would like to know as much as possible about this problem. Thank you

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Myelofibrosis is the bone marrow cancer. In Myelofibrosis bone marrow cells are replaced by fibrous tissue leads to severe anemia, fatigue, weaknesses, enlarged spleen and liver.
It is generally seen at old age.
It is type of chronic leukemia occur as primary myelofibrosis or secondary to other myeloproliferative disease like polycythemia vera and essential thrombocythemia.
It is related to JAK 2 gene mutation.

Generally myelofibrosis develops slowly.
Some people may live symptoms free for years. Many get progressively worse. Both require monitoring.

Treatment gole is to releive the symptoms and reduce the risk of complications.

Treatment options are blood transfusion, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, splenectomy, drugs to treat anemia and stem cell transplantation.

Stem cell transplantation is generally not preferred in this age.
Ruxolitinib is drug useful in myelofibrosis treatment.
