Question: breast cancer, female, age 59, lump in the breast size >6cm, test results: ER3+PR3+CerB2(0)Ki67(10%)p53(0),nm23(3+)TOPOII(1%)CK5/S(0)FISH(0)
already has done 4 chemos, but the lump isn getting bigger, think maybe lots of fluid in the breast, should do mastectomy immediately or keep doing chemo?

If the chemo proved to be failure already since we used the largest possible portion, is there no necessary to use the same chemo med after the surgery? Thanks

Hi,

If the chemo has proved to be a failure, then radiotherapy is the alternative approach. Herceptin is another option as well.

Chemotherapy could be tried even before the surgery, if the patient responds well. But, in your case, it is not responding. Hence go for radiotherapy or Herceptin use.
