Question : Hi, I have had breast pain and swelling for months, I figured it was a menopause or hormone thing, due to my hysterectomy 8yrs ago. The pain and swelling have worsened over then past month and I recently notice my left breast, above my breast, (almost to my shoulder blade), armpit and arm swollen, warm (inflamed) and sore, what could it be or what should I do?

                                    Brief Answer:
Examination
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to healthcare magic.
The breast inflammation at your age could be due either an infection or even cancer.
You should get it examined by your doctor to differentiate this. The doctor will also be able to palpate lymph nodes and see if they are enlarged. A biopsy or mammogram can be done if required.
Please see your doctor soon for getting breast examination done.

So, I ended up in emerge that night with swelling, numbness, pain, and itching throughout my WHOLE left side. ( I also feel very hot, like I'm over heating but without the fever, I did mention the menopause concern but he said nothing was wrong) Most of the pain and swelling was under my left breast and armpit. When I arrived my blood pressure was through the roof and my heart was beating very fast. The doctor did blood work, x-rays and an ecg. He said he couldn't find anything wrong, but gave me a referral to the Breast Diagnostic Unit for a full examine. Yesterday, I rested and took some Naproxen, I feel better today but I obviously am still very concerned and scared. I also got no explanation for the swelling, I really don't understand.....if it is "something" in my breast, would that explain the swelling throughout the left side of my face, down to my legs? He also kept asking about blood clots, but I've never had one, although it does sound more like a circulation problem, but again...how would I know the symptoms?
I'm very confused and scared :(

Breast Examination
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It was good that you were examined and adviced from evaluation by breast clinic. even I had adviced you the same.
If there was circulation or heart problem it would most likely start in legs and not in breast.
I hope you have been given medicines for blood pressure since you said it was high.
Further management can only be decided after breast examination and a mammogram.
