Suggest Treatment For Cat Bite

Question: My daughter accidently got bitten by our cat (who has all of her shots), early thursday morning. The bite mark area became red and swollen and very painful. We took her to the ER. They prescribed augmentin. Augmentin has amoxicillin in it. My daughter is immune to amoxicilin. We informed the Dr. and he insisted augmentin would still be the best choice for an infected cat bite. It is now 24 hours since she started this medicine and is still in a great deal of pain, with the area still very red, though not as swollen. I'm concerned this medication is not doing what it needs to be. How much longer do we wait before we return for furhter medical care? Thank you.

Brief Answer: You can take other drugs having same effect. Detailed Answer: Hello, Your daughter was bit by your pet cat, which was fully immunized against rabies. The biting has led to internal bleeding which has led to the symptoms. Your doctor has advised augmentin tablet which is very effective against staph and strep infection that lead to cellulitis. This is the best drug for management of these symptoms. However, since she is immune to amoxicillin as augmentin is having it, you can give her Tab Zifi 200mg, twice daily for 5 days Tab Metrogyl 400mg, thrice daily for 5 days.
