Brief Answer:
Viral croup is frequently seen in such a season. Be patient

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I am sorry to hear that your child is not doing well. Viral cough and cold are frequently seen in children. Croup or bronchiolitis is a variant of this disease where wheezing is present. Nebulization is the best mode of treatment but humidifier can more or less serve the purpose. You can continue the vicks vaporup but it is not going to help much.

Increased heart rate indicates that the body is in stress. But it is not unusual in a situation like this. Increased rate of breathing in children indicates some respiratory distress which concerns me. I would suggest you to get a blood count (routine analysis) done and to visit a pediatrician with the reports to rule out other bacterial infection (lower respiratory tract infection where antibiotics might be required. Moreover, the doctor could also be able to assess whether nebulization is essential.

Hope that helps
