Question: I have a bad cough with a headache and extreme fatique. I am wheezing and phlegm pools in my upper chest when I lay down. I never get fevers and don't have one now. Could it be bronchitis, cold, asthma.....?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Probably asthma!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported. With wheezing, phlegm and absence of fever, it is more likely that you have asthma. Initially management of asthma is by using inhalers such as salbutamol. This will open the airways and allow for easy breathing. You will also need to drink much water and get a cough syrup such as carbocysteine to facilitate the expectoration of the phlegm. Should these symptoms persist, fever sets in or difficulties to breath, please seek immediate consultation

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
