Question : My T11-12 disc have been in very bad shape since 1995. Now it has been 11 years and I'm afraid the the C9-10 and C10-11 are in bad shape. I have DDD of the spine. My MD/surgeon won't order a CT or MRI eventhough I have dibilitating back pain day in and day out! I don't know what to do. I get so very depressed quite often, that, at times, don't care if I live or die.

Brief Answer:
First step in evaluation is medical and neurological examination.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

You mean discs between vertebrae T9-T10 and T10-T11 right?

The appropriate way to evaluate your condition, since there is degenerative discs disease and back pain, includes a medical, neurological examination by your primary care Doctor and Neurologist.

If doubts will be raised after the medical and neurological examination, next step is to have imaging studies such x-rays and spine MRI.

Treatment should start after these steps and includes painkillers, physical therapy, spinal epidural injections.

If instability of the spine or significant compression of spinal cord/nerves is found after the examinations, spine surgery is considered as an option.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
