Question: Hi, Yesterday night i had lot of loose motion along with gas. Today morning, the loose motion subsided but, even now my stomach is upset and have constant vomiting sensation. I have drank lots of water yesterday night and had ORS today. Is this food poisoning? Is yes, should i take any additional medication? I have planned a journey for about 12 hours in car, Iam not sure if i should cancel the trip for this, please suggest? I had also taken Pudin XXXXXXX as well.

Brief Answer:
Please find details below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
It is important for you to consult a doctor and get tests done for possible food poisoning or an infection of the bowel like typhoid fever.

It is good that you drank lots of water and ORS to keep yourself hydrated since yesterday and please continue taking it. The main precaution you must take at present is eat healthy home cooked food with less oil and no spices. During your journey carry food cooked from home or eat idlis and fruits. Avoid eating outside at any hotel. Take ORS and juices with you.

Since you are travelling in car for 12 hours, please take the following emergency medications and consult a doctor when you reach your destination.
1. Tablet pantoprazole and domperidone marketed as PAN D is available to treat gastritis and vomiting in emergency and this is to be taken on empty stomach once daily for 5 days and is available with a doctors prescription.

2. For the loose motions, you can take tablet CIPLOX TZ twice a day for 5 days which is an antibiotic medication and to be taken after meals. This is also a prescription medication.

If pain, vomiting and diarrhea persist even after 3 days of medication then please get tested for typhoid infection.

Travel if you are comfortable and carry medications with you. Wish you a happy journey.

Wish you a quick recovery.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
