Brief Answer:
recovery time can vary

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The time frame and severity of any illness can vary from one person to the next.

Though the infection only lasted 24 hours in your husband, it could have lasted fewer than 24 hours or ,as in this case, longer, for you.

Your recovery may be aided by the use of probiotics which would help restore your body's flora and may help to reduce the nausea that you are experiencing.
These can be used on their own or in certain yogurts such as activa, greek yogurts.

The other aspects of treatment would only be to rest and avoid foods that would further irritate your stomach and bowel.
That would include spicy/fried/fatty/acidic foods.

It is important to continue to use fluids because it is possible that some of your fatigue is related to still not having replaced what was initially loss.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
