Question: Hi my query to dr XXXXXXX heijebu only
Sir my 17 yr old grandson had dog bite of a pet dog . he had scratches over his legs.please advise?

Is the treatment available at kg hospital? please guide me further. thanks in advance

ARV is indicated in your case.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir.

I understand your concern.

Scratches from a dog can be considered as Cat 2 wound.

In case if the immunisation status of the dog is unknown ,its always safe to have a complete vaccination/ARV to prevent rabies.

Wash the wound initially under running tap water.

A single dose of TT injection is usually also indicated.

5 doses of intramuscular injections of purified vero cell culture derived vaccine is indicated on 0,3,7,14,28 days taken in the deltoid area.

This schedule is very effective in preventing the rabies.

These Services are pretty much available at KG hospital.
