Question : I sweat profusely whether it is hot or cold! Mostly the sweat comes from my head--running down my neck, my face, soaks my hair. It is miserable, and I would like to know what to do.
Brief Answer:
Sweating
Detailed Answer:
Sorry to note your bothersome symptoms.
There are a few causes that need to be considered.
One is an overactive thyroid and the other is menopausal hot flashes. The third is a rare condition called Acromegaly
1 A simple blood test called TSH will help screen for the possibility of an overactive thyroid
2 I see you are well past the age of menopause but sometimes they can occur at any age.
3 A blood test called IGF1 gives an idea as to whether or not Acromegaly is present.
When I see someone like you in my practice I order the following tests in addition to a thorough physical examination
CBC
CMP
TSH
IGF1
