Suggest Treatment For Eye Infection

Posted on Mon, 24 Nov 2014
Question: Hello, I woke up one morning (3 days ago) and found blood pouring out of my inner right corner eyelid area. After about a few minutes the blood seemed to finally come to a stop and ever since then a fatty tissue as emerged some what like a skin tag. No pain has been felt through out this experience and now every morning my right eye is half sealed shut by crust. My wife and I are pretty worried and would like to find some kind of resolve or peace of mind to this. Please help.

Brief Answer:
This indicates infection of the eyes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to health care magic.

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are having discharge, redness and chemosis or swelling of conjunctiva.
These symptoms indicate infection in the form of conjunctivitis.
This can be treated hence no need to worry.
This requires treatment by the use of antibiotics and antiinflammatory drugs.

Do send me a photo of the affected eye so that I can confirm the diagnosis and advice you more accurately.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you

Brief Answer:
It is conjunctivitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thank you for the follow up question.

I saw the photo attached with the question.

The photo shows infection of the eyes in the form of conjunctivitis.
I usually treat these conditions by the use of antibiotic eye drops like moxifloxacin. Analgesic drugs are required for pain relief. This usually takes 4-7 days for resolution.

Since this will be contagious and can spread to others and the other eye, you need to take precautions like,
Wash the hands thoroughly after touching the affected eye.
Avoid close contact with other family members.
Use separate hand kerchiefs and bed sheets.

If you have other symptoms like pain, sensitivity to light you need to consult your ophthalmologist.

Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for prescription of drugs.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
