Suggest Treatment For Feeling Of Urinating Along With Pushing Sensation

default
Posted on Thu, 26 Feb 2015
Question: I am a 59 yr old female. I am having unbeleivable urges to urinate. I am also having feelings like "pushing" when I urinate. The "pushing" sensation is almost like a child birth push. I do think a very light amount of pale blood may be following the "push sensation". No pain at this time.

This has been happening for the past 20hrs. There is no burning. There is a pressure in lower pelvic area. No fevers. The only new medicine is an SsD cream for a burn on my arm that eas having difficulty healing. No diabetes. I do have rsd left lower limb and hep c(in remission). I did have a total hysterectomy at age 28. I don't see pus like. Just pale blood especially after the "pushing sensation". Hope this helps some. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Your issues don't seem to be serious, are very treatable.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing back,

Indeed that was a very helpful reply, specially your mentioning the hysterectomy, made me think of some very closely possible reasons of your problem.

Here I would like to mention that your problem seems to be very treatable , though i understand that it must be very disturbing for you.

Possibilities:

1-Pelvic inflammation:

Pelvic inflammation or slight infection can be a cause of this , in sub clinical or mild forms, all it causes is heaviness of pelvis and difficulty urinating (dysuria), this is very common specially in ones who have got any pelvic surgery done, this is very treatable too.

2- Late onset hysterectomy Complications :

In patients who have under gone radical hysterectomy, such complications are very common when they get elderly, this is due to softening of pelvic floor with time and loosening of muscles. This is also very treatable with pelvic exercises.

3- Pelvic visceral problems not related to hysterectomy:

In some elderly people pelvic viscera can disturb each others' space as pelvic floor gets loose with time , they may put pressure on bladder or urinary passages , this is very treatable and common.

What to do:

1- Don't panic.

2- Wait for 2-3 days and see if symptoms improve.

3- If symptoms don't improve or keep getting worse, set an appointment with your GY & Obs.

4- You can use Tylenol twice a day this may reduce inflammation if there's any , but i would suggest you to wait for 2-3 days.

5- Your doctor might want to get your blood and urine works done to see what is there in your urine.

6- Your doctor might do a pelvic ultrasound .

7- Anti biotics will be started if blood works or urine works are indicative.

8- Keep good pelvic hygiene.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Things in my opinion should get better with time , as you don't have other ongoing medical issues, can can stay the same but they are not expected to get worsened. If they do stay same or get worsened talk to your gynae about it.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
