Suggest Treatment For Fever, Diarrhea And Nausea

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Aug 2015
Question: Lately I have been to the ER to get a ct scan and blood work, but I noticed that when I woke up I had a fever, nausea and diarrhea. Is this something to worry about? I have also been having panic attacks the past 2 days so the symptoms might be from the anxiety.

Brief Answer:
Please find details below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. It is important to know the symptoms you had for which you consulted the ER. It will be helpful to know the region scanned by CT scan and if contrast study was done.

2. There is no way that your symptoms are related to the CT scan machine if you got a plain CT scan done. However, if contrast injection was given to you during CT scan then there is a rare possibility of contrast reactions taking place. This type of reaction happens in 1 in 10000 to 50000 people and if you have a doubt then please inform the CT scan technologist and the radiologist.

3. If the above is not the case then anxiety is probably the reason for your symptoms. Please do mind relaxation exercises, eat healthy home cooked meals and drink adequate amounts of fluids and juices. Please share the CT scan report findings with blood report and this will help to have a detailed accurate discussion.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek

Both the test came back normal but my white blood cells were a little high as the doctor said. Is this a problem?

Brief Answer:
You might have the flu

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. It is possible that you had an attack of the flu. Patients experience fever, nausea, diarrhea and slightly high blood work. If your fever and diarrhea is under control then this is not a serious concern. You should be able to make a complete recovery in 3 to 5 days. Please relax your mind, have good food and drink plenty of water and fluids. You might like to take a break from work or studies for two days.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
