Question: Hi im 28 years old. I shaved my pubic area Wednesday night and thursday afternoonI had an intense itch, i noticed when itching that I had a couple grouped together fluid filled bumps on my labia majora, Closer to the front of my pubic area. I tried to pop them. Saturday morning I checked on them, they itch bad and are uncomfortable. It looks like popping them made them worse. I am very skinny, but I do sweat perfusly. i try to shower every other day, but sometimes it might be evwry 3 or 4 days. I am wondering if it is sweat bumps, or heat rash, or herpies or something. I have had a pap about 6 months ago, which came back clean/normal. I am married, i am a lesbian, and i have only had 1 sexual partner (which is my wife) in the last 3 years. Please help im freaking out.

Brief Answer:
Hair follicle infection most likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query and pictures you have send earlier. It looks like hair follicle infection. This can be due to irritation from shaving. Herpes also can give same picture but it will be associated with severe burning sensation and pain along with itching.

Hot fomentations will be helpful in getting relief. Avoid soaps and irritants. You can use saline or warm water. Applying betadine ointment locally will be helpful. This is available as over the counter. If there is no improvement then antibiotics will be needed. You can approach your GP for that.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

In such case you can go for herpes 1 and 2 blood test to rule out genital herpes. Antiviral therapy like acyclovir or famcyclovir will be helpful in case if positive. Acyclovir cream can be used locally also. Washing with ice water will be soothing. You can also take over the counter analgesics like ibuprofen ( motrin ) if discomfort , burning or pain is more.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

Thank you for your follow up query.

Cold sores on mouth is caused by herpes 1 virus and genital herpes by herpes 2 virus. But you can get herpes 1 infection on genital area by oral sex. So that case is possible as you are in lesbian relationship. Herpes 1 and 2 blood test will be helpful to identify this.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
