Question : I have fluid retention in my left leg, knee and prominently in my left ankle. Advice I have been given is to raise my leg up on a chair but I cannot do this all the time !

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

Since youhave cardiac problems, decongested heart failire should be ruled out. Moreover, other causes like renal failure should be excluded to.

If you were my patient I would recommend to do as follows in order to find out what is causing your symptoms:
- blood work (including BUN and creatinine levels)
- Cardiac echo
- Doppler ultrasound of both legs

Meanwhile, I would recommend to do as follows:
- Reduce salt intake
- Add diuretics on your therapy
