Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us. From your description it looks like your child has repeated cold and cough. Most babies at this age group will get frequent cold attacks.
The reason is upto six months maternal immunity protects the babies against common infections. After six months until 2 years their immune system is immature and frequent infections can happen.
Don't worry as you have already given seasonal flu vaccine, serious flu infection is are less likely. But still minor cold attacks do happen.
If your doctor has prescribed advent it means he suspects bacterial infection.
Do complete the course.
If cough persists for more than 2 weeks you need to do chest x ray and mantoux test to rule out chest infection.
Another possibility is allergic cold where fever starts after one or two days of cold onset. In infections fever is the first symptom.
Discuss with your doctor with these tips.
Wishing your child speedy recovery. Dr Arun.
