Suggest Treatment For Hair Loss In An Elderly Person On HHsone Lotion
Question: Hi, I am 62 yrs old lady and of late have been having fairly significant hair-fall. I am not allergic to any medicines that I am aware of. Somebody suggested using HHSone lotion (contains Mometasone), but I am doubtful about trying anything on hearsay. Is it right or can you suggest any other remedy?

There are many causes of hair loss and treatment depends on the cause.
The most common causes encountered by me are thyroid disorders, anemia, certain drugs, fevers like typhoid and malaria, surgery and chronic diseases including that of the scalp.
I recommend you to undergo haemoglobin, serum ferritin levels and TSH test to rule out the anemia and thyroid disease.
Mometasone is a steroid and is recommended if there is itching in the scalp or the individual is having inflammatory diseases of the scalp which are causing hair loss.
I also recommend you to upload photographs of your scalp so that I can review the pattern of your hair loss and guide you accordingly.
