Question: Pea size lump just inside my anus. Seems to move a little with some tenderness. No itching, no bleeding. Can't really see color. Had IBSC about two weeks ago. No pain when defecating. Hemorrhoid ?

Brief Answer:
Most likely hemorrhoids!

Detailed Answer:
HI and thanks so much for this query.

The description of the lump and the surrounding circumstances make this more likely to be a hemorrhoid. Main treatment should be taking pain medication as well as applying local relieving gels. In addition, avoid diarrhea and constipation as these are often worsening and provoking conditions. Eat right and increase fluids, fruits, fiber and vegetables in take. Exercising often is a god way to help keep bowel movements okay.

At 65 years, you are expected to have had a colonoscopy. Please, kindly let me know if you have already done so. If not, consider getting one at this time. If you did, what were the results?

I hope this helps clarifies your doubts and guides. I wish you well. Feel free to follow through if need be.

Had a colonoscopy at 54 and a second one in 2014 at age 61. Was told to return in 8-10 years because everything looked good. Because of my IBS flare ups my internist had me take the Cologuard test this
Past October (2016)....everything was negative. Question#2....how long should it take for the lump to shrink/should I continue to check it?

Brief Answer:
Can take about 1-2weeks!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The lump alone should not scare you. As long as you stool normally and there is no pain, there is no reason to get worried. I will suggest that you go on and monitor every 72hours and only become worried if something else comes up.

I wish you well and keep me posted about this.
