Question : I am 48, an occasional smoker and a stone overweight.
My blood pressure is currently showing as 172/110 pulse 90bpm.
I have been on ramipril but as I was having an allergic reaction to it we've stopped that and I'm due to start a different medicine later this week.
I've had a bad headache today while on holiday.
Do I need to go to doctor as an emergency?

Brief Answer:
would be best to be seen as soon as possible
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Yes, it would be best to be assessed by a doctor.
Your blood pressure is in the higher stage of high blood pressure and will likely remain this high level or continue to go higher since your medication will not be started till later this week
The doctor that sees you would be able to determine if the headache is a direct effect/complication of your high readings or if there is another cause.
This would require a central nervous examination at least
Would likely opt to start medication as soon as possible to try and bring down these readings
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
