Question : I have been taking Ramipril for 3 years since having a quadruple by-pass. Previously was taking Tildiem Retard with no side effects. Have husky kind of voice now and have clear thick mucus which interferes with swallowing some foods even though I chew well.

                                    Brief Answer:
Side effects of Ramipril
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
The symptoms you are experiencing are side effects of Ramipril. Ramipril causes angioedema which leads to edema of vocal cords and change of voice. Ramipril also cause glossitis which is inflammation of the tongue that leads to the thick mucus.
You should discontinue Ramipril and switch to another group of antihypertensives such as beta-blockers as Concor (Bisoprolol) 5mg once daily before breakfast. Please discuss this with your Cardiologist.
I hope I've answered your question.
