Question : Hi, My daughter had been vomiting since morning. Pediatrician suggested indigestion. She is taking medication (emset) and vomiting has stopped in the evening however she has high fever 101+ even after giving crocin. Can we give Mephtal P?

Brief Answer:
You can give Meftal P

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I am sorry to hear about your child. Your child seems to be suffering from a gastrointestinal infection.

The temperature definitely needs to be kept in control. Crocin contains paracetamol which needs to be given at a dose of 15 mg/kg/dose at a minimum interval of 3-4 hours. You can also give tepid sponging. You may give Meftal P syrup (contains mefenamic acid) at a minimum interval of 6 hours between doses, if the temperature does not come down, since Meftal P is more effective than paracetamol in reducing temperature. But it is a prescription medicine and you would need to get it prescribed by your treating physician. Dose of Meftal P is independant of dose of Crocin.

Hope that helps.
