Brief Answer:
Get it sutured if it is less than than 6 hours.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

I can understand your concern for the injury on the corner of the eye and am quite empathetic for the same.

I have analyzed your picture and can make out that the injury has made a deep cut in the skin.

In view to help you best I need to know the exact time period since the injury has occurred. If it has occurred within 6 hours then you must undergo suturing of the area immediately.

If I would have been treating you then immediately have sutured the cut by a fine thread of prolene 5 0.

Do let me know if it is still bleeding and the intensity of pain at the wound site.

Hope to hear soon from your side.

Brief Answer:
Do not try to touch the area. Apply Mupirocin.

Detailed Answer:
Hello young lady,

Welcome again to the forum and thanks a lot for your swift response.

As it is 24 hours since the injury so there is no benefit of suturing now. If we had opted for immediate suturing within 6 hours then the wound would have healed with primary intention where the chances of scarring are minimal.

Now the wound will heal by secondary intension. But don't worry if you follow certain measures then we can minimse the scarring. Kindly follow the suggestions below:

- Do not at all touch the aera or try to fiddle with the cut. An unnecessary touching the area can cause infection and resultant scar.

So follow no touch policy of the area as I quite often see some of the persons try to repeatedly examine the area out of anxiety.

- If I were your treating doctor then would have prescribed an antibiotic cream such as Mupirocin or fucidin over the wound area. It should be applied for 2 times a day. It is to be so applied in such a thin layer so that it should not be visible to the naked eye. A very small amount of one fourth of pea size is sufficient for your kind of wound.

- I would have additional suggested to take an anti inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or diclofinac or paracetamol to reduce the inflammation and therefore to reduce the chances of scar formation.

I would have prophylactically suggested you to take an antibiotic as the wound is on face and to prevent chances of infection if any. But if you don't have any previous history of infection in wound then can be abolished by simple measures suggested above.

I additionally guide you that the wound will turn brownish in next 48 hours and then blackish to form complete scab in next 3 to 5 days. The most important part is not to try and pick the scab. Let the scab tissue fall off in next 8 to 10 days. Once the scab falls off then can send me the picture to review it and guide you best accordingly after falling of scab.

Do not worry you will be alright soon. My all best wishes for early recovery.

I hope these informations will help you. I will be glad to guide you any further.

When can I wear makeup over it?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sanjay Kumar Kanodia (11 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
You can wear make up after around 72 hours.

Detailed Answer:
Hello young lady,

You can wear make up after around 72 hours when the scab is fully formed. It might take even longer in some cases to form a complete scab. So just wait and watch the formation of complete scab tissue which covers the complete wound. Once the scab cover the wound site completely then there is no problem in applying make up.

Do not apply heavy make and be very gentle in application of make up also as can cause irritation and selling at the wound area.

I hope these informations will help you. I will be glad to guide you any further.

My all best wishes for your early recovery"

Brief Answer:
ER's decision to examine and take decision.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to the forum again.

You can meet an ER and let him decide if it can be sutured or not. In my opinion it would be his call to de examine and decide about the thing.

My all best wishes for your earliest recovery.

Hello it has been a week tonight post injury can you review picture and advise? Most of scab has fallen off. What can I do to make better?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Sanjay Kumar Kanodia (10 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Gel containing Allantoin, cepae extract & heparin

Detailed Answer:
Hello young lady,

Welcome to the forum and thanks a lot for your further follow up.

I have reviewed the picture and can make out that the scab has fallen off nicely and the present area is not showing any signs of infection. The area is bit red wit formation of superficial skin showing good sign of healing.

In such a case I suggest my patients to apply a gel containing Allantoin, cepae extract and sodium heparin as active active ingredient (Contractubex gel). It is one the best gel to be applied at this situation.

The gel helps out in re-modulation of wound area on its best and prevention of scar formation on its best.

I suggest my patients to apply in morning and at night time. It is to be applied very thinly over the area so that the gel should be absorbed properly and not visible to the naked eye.

It takes minimum 4 weeks of period to show appreciable changes in the area. So it is better to apply at-least for 8-12 weeks to see the best results.

I hope these informations will help you. I will be glad to guide you any further.

My all best wishes for your good glowing skin"
