Suggest Treatment For Insomnia

Question : what can do for insomnia? I' m on to many pills. I have been told by a heart Dr. at XXXXXXX Clinic that I need to get off of all this medicine. I am on 4 mg of Clonazpam . I works but scars me. Please help.

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

It is true that you take too many medications. Furthermore 3 of them temazepam, clonazepan and ambien act in a similar way. Also they develop tolerance, especially the first two, meaning they lose efficacy over timeand you have to increase the dosage to achieve efficacy. So I too would recommend getting off of them, but not abruptly, in a very very gradual way.

Now what to take for sleep. That depends on the cause of insomnia. If you have depression or anxiety they must be treated (especially as anxiety may worsen as you lower those drugs which have anti-anxiety effect). So in that case an antidepressive may be use, possibly one which promotes sleep like Mirtazapine.

If there is no issue with depression, anxiety or other correctable causes, medications for primary insomnia like Suvorexant may be considered.
