My bowel movements are really uncertain mostly constipation along with mucous these days. After Good bowel movements sometime am comfortable till evening but stomach gets blotted with gas end of day and just unable to relive myself .It will be just moving up and down inside only. I have severe heart burns (fells like heart attack) and sometimes unbearable.

Currently as advised by my family physician am taking Gastrobact and MEBASPA whenever required.

1)Because of this will i develop any complications?
2) Any better medications ?
3) Any Tests Required?
Add few more points

My father had the same condition and I see few more in my family also.

I had this since my childhood and came to know about IBS only 3 years back once diagnosed by family physician.

I am 55 kg and not able to put on even 3 kgs more coz if I eat more or change my diet I will have stomach problem.

I want to know what medications I can take so that the problem can be solved in a long run and also immediate medications if the situation is bad on a day to day basis.
Thx

Brief Answer:
Lifestyle changes will help most

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for your query.

I have read your query. From your query it seems that you have irritable bowel syndrome + constipation + mucous discharge + heart burn.

For constipation you may try rectal suppositories, anal anesthetic creams like proctosedyl cream. This cream is to be applied if you get pain while defecation. Since during constipation you may strain, it may result in problems like piles, anal fissures, etc.

Mucous discharge is a sign of inflammation or infection in gut. Bloating is also usually due to bacterial overgrowth.

Irritable bowel syndrome is a diagnosis of exclusion. Thus if your doctor had done tests before diagnosing IBS, please let me know. Irritable bowel syndrome is mostly managed with lifestyle. No medicine works well enough to control it lifelong. You can take the medicines prescribed by your doctor whenever needed. Apart from that you should take fruits and vegetables upto 5 times a day. Drink pure drinking water from RO system. Avoid drinking sugary drinks, sugary foods and alcohol.

To gain weight you will need high calorie foods like milk products (cheese, butter, ghee, sweets etc). But you also need to be careful not to increase your cholesterol levels, thus get your lipid profile done before hand.

Alongwith the lifestyle changes you may get basic blood tests done that include complete blood count, liver function tests, kidney function tests, lipid profile, etc. If lifestyle changes do not help with these symptoms, colonoscopy may be done to find the exact cause.

Hope it helps.
