Suggest Treatment For Lack Of Confidence Caused By Major Depressive Disorder

Posted on Tue, 21 Feb 2017
Question: About a year ago, I was bullied by a group of people due to their job insecurity feeling. I am an introvert female, who was much interested in work, spoke to few people at work. There were one lady co worker who started at these. She was one of the few people I used to interact and go for lunch together, etc. She, in front of group of coworkers, started pointing out my negatives, that is, I used to come late at work than other coworkers. Another couple of ladies, joined her in insulting me in front of group of people face to face as well as in whatsapp group. In these, one lady used to forcefully take help from me, also make me look like a subordinate in front of other people in whatsapp group, she also told me to ignore what everyone says and don't show any reaction.Another lady told me I was told what I am supposed to hear. There is another lady who smartly answers according to people and situation, for example when some one says they know something, she says she knows too. There was another lady who calls the other people fools if the other person is not up to her mark. And I have a client manager who doesn't care about what happens in the team, he only cares overall end results. I was abused by all the above people at a time, and I felt hopeless. I also had some kind of body shakings after that for few months. Thought I am required from the body shakings, I completely feel hopeless, lost, wandering, not able to focus on work, etc. I am now moved out of the project. My client manager had communicated to my manager saying I don't take initiatives even though I have lots of experience in that project.More than 5 years of experience in that project has gone waste now. I am not able to control my mind, I am feeling lazy and hopeless, not able to bring back my passion. I am understanding that everything is in the mind, and I have some mind blockers, there are many people who face a lot serious problems and mine is nothing, but I am not able to lift myself and get up. Now, I am in a state that, for each and every small thing I get angry or feel embarrassed. As everyone has, even myself had several bitter life experiences including difficult childhood like abusing parents, etc., In studies, I have been average student. I always believe in straight forward ways, morals, God, karma, long term, win win, life purpose, etc.,. Looks like knowing alone is not helping, I am not that mature to lift myself in a fake or negative environment."The same boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It's about what you're made of, not the circumstances."-By understanding in what all am I an egg and that all am I a potato, want to know how to lift my confidence, self esteem, purpose, regain my hope, and be happy and do good for society as well. Kindly help. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
I think there is need for cognitive behavior therapy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

From the available description I feel there is good possibility that you are suffering with major depressive disorder. Loss of self esteem, confidence, lazziness, hopelessness, inability to concentrate and many other things are characteristic of depression and many of them are present.

In addition having introvert and adverse life situations are precipitating factors for major depressive disorder along with adverse childhood which acts as predisposing factor for major depressive disorder.

Having said this I feel there is need for treatment. The treatment options include cognitive behavior therapy and medications. Considering your symptoms I feel cognitive behavior therapy will make a better option. In this mode of treatment the abnormal thinking pattern is changed with systemic efforts.

In case no cognitive behavior psychologist available in your city there is option to opt for medications.

I hope this helps you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks again.

Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for your answer.

I would like to know more on cognitive behavior therapy, like :
How long would the therapy course would be.
How much would the approximate cost of the therapy would be.
What should I do to cooperate the therapist and therapy?
Is it possible to do online?
Do you provide this therapy?
I see you are from XXXXXXX I am from XXXXXXX too but working at abroad, whom should I approach? Will XXXXXXX or non XXXXXXX would be better for my case?
Are there any home medications which I can do?
What are the step by step improvements I would get to feel/realize during the therapy?

Kindly provide all these details. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
You are always welcome

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

The most individuals need 8-12 sessions. One session lasts for one hour and sessions are organised often once per week so taking two to three months.

The cost depends where you are seeking assistance. Here in XXXXXXX most therapist charge somewhere between 3000- 7000 per session but same may be higher is western countries.

You will need to complete the assigned homework by therapist and remain flexible. Ask when something is not clear.

Yes online is option but never a superior than in person.

I too provide it.

There is significant contribution of culture and I think a person who understands your culture will be better no matter whether she is XXXXXXX or XXXXXXX

Home remedies have the questionable value after a certain limit and I see little scope for them in your case.

The last question is beyond scope to answer here.

I hope this assists you further.
Thanks again.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer. I have got few more questions.

Is the cognitive behavior therapy given based on past experiences of the patient i.e., Listen each and every past experience the patient has to say and understand their mind, and then disciplining the thoughts to make it more productive. (or) Is it like disciplining the thoughts to make it more productive, person's past does not matter too much here?

Is it customized per patient or same instructions and stages to be followed by the patient?

What can I expect and not to expect in every stage in the therapy.. i.e., something like what is covered on high level..

How are the results measured in CBT on his level? (Before, while undergoing, after)

How do I find the right CBT therapist match for myself? (Like education, certification, experience, what do I need to check during initial introduction with the therapist to determine if they are the right match, etc..

How much is the success rate in this therapy?

Can you also please provide your email and phone number.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
It is based on the present way of thinking

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

CBT is based on the current way of malfunctioning which is targeted. Past experiences are hardly discussed in CBT.

It is customised for every individual.

Difficult to answer without having complete assessment although first two steps are focused on evaluation. Next four to sex sessions on changing and last two sessions on conclusion and completion of therapy.

It could be any scale to measure the underlying disease such as HAMD for depression, HAMA for anxiety.

This is most often done by having a local search or referral by family and friends.

Almost equal to medications

I am sorry. I am not supposed to provide. By the way you can contact me for online consultation at icliniq.com/ashok

I hope this answers you further.
