Question: Hello, A few days ago I noticed a lump in my right breast when I was brushing. It was painful to touch and a bit swelling. My doctor has made a mammogram diagnostic appointment for me. Which is weeks away. My problem now is, the pain and swelling has gone away, the lump is still there but has reduce in size as well. I am very worried because my appointment is ways from now, any Idea why this is the case now?

Brief Answer:
Cyst seems most probable.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

The most common reason of breast lump is a cyst. As you have had some inflammation, abscess could be the case as well. But until the test (ultrasound should be done at first) wont be done you can not be sure. Its because, some of breast cancer can act like an inflammation.
So if this is possible, please do not wait for the mammogram, and have an ultrasound done.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
