i have to see chest Physician on Friday morning.
now my concers are.

have i been conclusively diagnosed asthma.
is there any chance that this is because of any other issue
is there any way i can get a cure.
is there any way i can challenge this diagnosis.
what should i say to my chest Physician. my parents do not have asthma. i sometimes had allergic rhinitis during childhood.
i am at verge of being boarded out of army , please help.

in continuation of my earlier question is there any way i can get treated of symptoms and again appear for spirometry test , where same results are n
ot repeated.

Brief Answer:
it can be asthma or COPD asthma overlap syndrome.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
I have gone through all the reports.
You are having significant reversibility in Spirometry (more than 12% and 200 ml) which suggest possibility of asthma more.
If significant reversibility is seen 95% times its asthma.
But There is new term recently added in pulmonology. It is "COPD asthma overlap syndrome". Reversibility is seen in this too.
Since you have allergic rhinitis in past, I think asthma is more likely diagnosis.
Chest infection aggravates asthma. This had also seen in your case.
So asthma seems more in your case.
You can challenge " COPD asthma overlap syndrome" as other diagnosis.
So you can ask chest physician about this new term. And possibility of it in your case.
And asthma is treatable disease. You need to take inhaled bronchodilators for it.
And with treatment you can have normal spirometry. Asthma is manageable disease in which regular follow up with spirometry is needed.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
consult pulmonologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
Sorry for the late reply.
You can consult pulmonologist (chest physician) outside the hospital.
And can get done repeat Spirometry.
Just make sure you have stopped all treatment at least 48 hours before spirometry ,to get proper spirometry report. And also get done reversibility testing.
Hope I have solved your query.

Wish you good health.

Sorry doctor my question was different. is it possible to get treated in such a way that when i present myself for challenge spirometry i get normal results. reversibility is not there .... or they are not able to detect asthma by challenge test.

Brief Answer:
you can take inhaled bronchodilators.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
You can take inhaled bronchodilators before spirometry. So that if any obstructive defect is there, can be nullified.
Since inhaled bronchodilators (Beta 2 agonist, Anticholinergic and corticosteroid) are prescribed medicine, you need doctor's prescription for this.
So consult pulmonologist outside your academy and discuss about these.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
