Suggest Treatment For Nasal Congestion And Cold
Question: My 21 months old daughter has been suffering from cold..it was running nose
we used alaspan and the flum from nose thickened
now she has a nasal congestion...breathing air from mouth
we are using nasoclear...at that time she sneezes heavily and flum gets out
pls advise what needs to be done now

Welcome to the HCM,
Baby is suffering with respiratory tract infection which often leads to nasal blockage because of secretions.
Saline nasal drops frequently to be poured in both the nares for effective clearing of mucus.
If still with saline nasal drops mucus in not able to cleared then other nasal drops also can be used like xylometazoline 0.5% ( nasivion pediatrics nasal drops).
some decongestant antihistaminic oral syrups like (sinarest syrup) also to be given for the relief of cold symptoms.
If the fever or cough gradually increases then one can think of adding some relevant antibiotic with the consultation of your pediatrician.
Steam inhalation frequently helps in relieving the symptoms up to some extent.
