Question : My 11mos old baby has G6PD and has cold/flu symptoms with nasal congestion, cough, and runny nose. I found a Self Care medicine with active ingredients; Chlorpheniramine Maleate B.P. 1.0 mg, and Phenylephrine Hydroclordie B.P. 2.5 mg. Is it safe for him?
Brief Answer:
Not safe.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Chrorpheniramine is not safe for him. Please go through:

Phenylephrine is safe to be given to your child.
Rather than going for these medicines, I would insist you to give steam inhalation to your child. It helps in reducing the congestion. Water vapor will reach deep inside and would help in diluting the cough and thus would provide relief. Use Nasoclear saline nasal drops in case of nose block. Give Nasivion only if steam inhalation does not provide full relief.
Feel free to write back.
