I'm wondering if you can help me.
After I had sexual intercourse with my boyfriend of 4 years, an open cut/sore appeared on the bottom left of my labia minora. I also got itchyness and the left side of my Labia swelled up. I got thick clumpy discharge and burning when I was urinating so assumed it was thrush. I have taken canesten oral and also used a pessiary. Since then then itchyness and discharge have disappeared and the swelling has reduced. However I am still in great pain with the open cut/sore and it is extremely tender to touch. Can you help me please?
Incompletely treated yeast infection
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for the question. Here are my thoughts:
First of all, this open sore does not sound like a typical STD, or sexually transmitted disease. Given the presence o a clumpy white discharge and itchiness surrounding these events, I am going to suppose that there was already a yeast infection present causing minor inflammation. Then with intercourse, this inflamed skin is prone to splitting or tearing. These then leads to a localized swollen, inflamed area that is not completely healed. The product you are using is appropriate for yeast infections. I would recommend that you consider:
1. Canestin-HC applied topically
2. Continue with some oral treatment of yeast
3. Avoid intercourse until this is completely cleared up
4. If there is no further improvement in 1-2 days, then you need to see your doctor
I hope that this helps and good luck!
