Question : Fell, bruised my knee a week ago. Feeling some soreness/mild pain and irritation. Motion is now stiff and does feel as if it may not be healing as quickly as normal. Doesn't appear swollen but is sore to touch. I am male, 66 years old and wonder if some kind of topical medication might be advisable at this point?
Brief Answer:
Warm procedures and topical NSAID cream should help.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your query and understand your concerns.
At this point is advisable to use massage with warm water and soap three-four times a day.
Topical medication that may help improve symptoms and speed recovery is local NSAID cream ( Diclofenac cream 1% eg) 2-3 times a day for few days.
If symptoms persist after a week, consider consulting a Orthopedic surgeon.
Hope this helps. I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.
Take care.
