Question : Hi,
I am supposed to be having surgery on Friday. And I did routine bloodwork. My absolute monocytes are 155. I have been really sleepy, my gums bleed a lot to where I taste blood in my mouth daily. I also have pain in my abdomen. I chalked it up to food allergies. Oh, I've also gotten gives a lot. All these symptoms have been just in the past 4-5 months.

So question is should I be worried and is it safe to have surgery? All my other numbers were in normal range. That being said they were on the very low end.

Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Check coagulation profile once.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

You have gum bleeding, abdominal pain due to allergy and low monocytes count.

your allergy and monocytes count has no relation with surgery.

You have gum bleeding so check your coagulation profile once. if you PT and APTT is normal then you can go for surgery safely. there is nothing to worry about that. Just be relaxed.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer.
