Question : So I wrote a few weeks ago about how a horse stepped on my foot. I went into the hospital and had a x-ray done and luckily nothing was broken or fractured. The doctor in the ER gave me crutches and told me to stay off it for a few days and follow up with my family doctor as it could be my ligament. I haven't been able to get into see my doctor yet as I am very busy with work and getting ready for school. Unfortunately about a week ago the horse stepped on my foot again. This time I was leading her to the pasture and because I am short I have short legs and she walks a little faster than I do so as I was taking a step she step on my foot. The same foot she stepped on previously. I was having my mom look at my foot tonight as it was painful. Again same as last time I was able to walk on it and bare weight on my foot right after she stepped on it. The first time she stepped on it the injury was more towards the base of my big toe and the one right after it. This time she stepped on the side of my foot towards the base of my pinky toe and it is extremely painful to touch. I was wondering if it would be a waste of time to go in and get it looked at again? My mom was feeling my foot and of course it is painfully to touch but after she was done it hurt to walk on and throbbed. I currently have my foot wrapped in a bandage. So would it be wise to go back into the hospital or should I just go to my family doctor or nurse practitioner?

Brief Answer:
Go to a family doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query and thank you for the detailed decription. Here is what I think

1. It is unlikely that there is a fracture as you are able to bear weight and also because there is no swelling of the foot
2. I suggest you to give ample rest to that foot, do not bear and do not lift heavy weights for 2 weeks
3. apply ice packs over it for the pain to reduce
4. tab acetaminophen is an excellent drug for the pain and local diclofenac gel can reduce the pain as well
5. approach a local family doctor, if he feels an x Ray is required then please get it done

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Regards
