Posted on Mon, 22 Jun 2015
Question: I have pain and tension in my neck, shoulder and side of my right arm. There is a rubbing or clicking sensation sometimes when I rotate my shoulder. I work at Ups and I lift a lot , while putting packages on shelves and taking them off. Tension also radiates in right shoulder blade area. Have been taking Advil for a week three times a day.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of shoulder joint involvement or cervical spine

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

I have gone through your question and previous questions posted in this forum. One problem was you were suffering from Gout.
Now your current problem is pain in right shoulder, neck and periscapular region.

First diagnosis I will consider is rotator cuff tear or injury to shoulder joint capsule as there is clicking sound along with your job related to lifting . Is there any restriction of movement of your right limb at shoulder joint as compared to left?

Second possibility may be cervical radiculopathy caused by compression of nerve roots coming out of spine at neck level and passing to limb. The distribution of pain upto shoulder points to C5-6 level involvement.

You need to visit a neurologist or orthopedics doctor to get properly examined and then evaluated and investigated according to it. Need of MRI of shoulder or cervical spine can be decided.
For treatment you should avoid lifting objects and take pain relievers with muscle relaxants.

Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health and early recovery.
