Brief Answer:
It needs to be investigated further.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM,

Pain over upper abdomen could be related to gastritis or something else but the lump along with distended abdomen should be given immediate medical attention.

So,I would suggest your husband to see some local general surgeon who may order some routine blood works, liver function tests and ultrasound abdomen after doing complete clinical examination of abdomen. It will enable us to arrive at a certain conclusion.

Without physical examination and some relevant tests,it is difficult to figure the underlying issue. Further treatment can be planned based on the clinical findings and tests.

So,better to see doctor rather than taking pain and antacid medications. They are only for symptomatic relief.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions.

Regards,
