Question : I am on antibotics for 12 days for cellulitis. The swelling has gone down, but my leg is very red and very painful down the shin bone. I have been given antibotics for another 7 days but it is not getting any better.

Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Cellulitis treatment with antibiotics lasts from one to two weeks, depending on the causing bacteria and general health condition of the patient including immune system status.

Special care must be taken if the causing bacteria is MRSA ( methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus).

If the swelling is gone, it means the treatment is right.

Redness takes a little more time to improve.

Topical corticoids ( e.g: Dermowat) may help improve the redness.
