Question: Hi My daughter is 4 years old, she has fractured her right hand just above the elbow. We went to a prominent hospital in whitefield near forum mall, x-ray were taken and it was a hair line crack, mild one and doctor applied POP. she was fine for first two days, from thrid day onwards she started getting too much heavy temperature fever, usually we gave P250 and if temperature doesn't subside we give meftal p. things were going out of control like temperature rised upto 105, we rushed to nearby child specialisits to get oipinion, he advised to give IMOL and Meftal P syrup with 4 hours gap. We continued it, still teperature did not subside, this time physician gave Combiflam instead of IMOL with four hour gap during heavy temperature. yesterday baby was fine after giving a dosage of combiflam for the whole day, today early morning temperature rised to 102 we gave her P250 at 1:00 a.m upon consulting physician, after two hours also temperature did not went down, then we gave meftal p to reduce temperature at 3:00 a.m still temperature did not come down, morning 7:00 a.m we finally we gave combiflam. Child was drowsy and went to sleep, i know this combiflam should not be given on empty stomach but we did not have any option. So can we continue combiflam and meftal p, any other precautions or something needs to be taken.

please advise.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Sponge baths every 5 to 6 hrs once.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for writing to us.
The ongoing treatment is fine. Actually both Imol and Combiflam have same combination of medicines, you can give either of them. Preferably pls give a glass(around 100 ml) of warm milk before administering the medicine to reduce gastritis.
One addition is that you have to give whole body sponge baths(around 5 to 10 min each time) to the child with warm water when ever fever is recorded for further effective management of fever.
You can watch for today, if still the symptoms persists , the child may require revisit to the pediatrician for further evaluation and if required some basic laboratory tests.
Meanwhile , maintain hydration and nutrition for your child. Hope I have cleared your query, wishing your child a speedy recovery.
