Brief Answer:
SINUSITIS/GERD-NEEDS EVALUATION

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having persistent sore throat. I would like to ask you few more details.

Is there any dripping of secretions from sinus, back into throat (post nasal drip) ?
Is your burning throat associated with burning sensation in chest ?

Kindly get back to me with the details.

Here my possibility according to your given history and further management:

As per your clinical details, it (sore throat) could be due to sinusitis or GERD (regurgitation of stomach contents into throat).

I suggest you to to consult ent surgeon and give detailed history (gastic ulcer, reflux esophagitis), get detailed Ent examination (sinusitis), if necessary laryngoscopy (to know the status of deep throat ). Depending on the examination findings, further treatment can be started.

Get back to me with details and if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.

Thank you for your response. I always deal with sinus congestion or allergies living in XXXXXXX I had my gallbladder removed in January and so I was concerned that the bile in my body may be the cause of burning in throat. As for as burning in chest, only on occasions, but not all the time. Can you recommend a better over the counter medicine to take. Thanks for your time

Brief Answer:
pantaprazole+ domperidone.

Detailed Answer:

Hello again,

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.

For acid reflux, you can try over the counter medication ( ppi inhibitor pantaprazole) + pro kinetic (domperidone), twice daily before food.

Related to sinus infection, requires antibiotics and decongestants (needs medical prescription for dosage and strength).

Hope, I have answered your query.

Take care.
