Suggest Treatment For Plantar Fasciitis In Right Foot And Lower Leg Cramps

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Jul 2015
Question: I'm fairly sure I have plantar faciitis in my right foot . I went to a very good acupuncturist within 5 or so days of onset. Three weeks later with only partial improvement, I went to my MD. Had X-rays of foot. Both doctors think it is PF. I began a more rigorous workout program, 6 weeks before this emerged. My BMI is 30 and I am 70, an active 70, but 70. I've read about home tx. And am taking naproxen (sp?) currently. Also soaking 1time a day with Epsom salts. Using capesium patches on my foot at night. Wearing shoes with arch support, etc. I want this to go away. Any other suggestions? I also have been having fairly regular lower leg cramps in my right leg for about a year..1 to 2times a week when I'm not well hydrated. Also sometimes they occur when I am well-hydrated. XXXX

Brief Answer:
Plantar fascitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I have read your query and understood your problem.

It appears that you have severe unremitting Plantar fascitis of both the feet.

You have been in various conservative modes of treatment with little or no relief. The pain being else in the morning and gets slightly better during the day.

I would advise the following.

Kindly try to exercise regularly to reduce weight because obesity aggravates Plantar fascitis.

Eat healthy. Keep well hydrated. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables such will also help in preventing cramps due to the rich mineral content. Avoid junk food, colas smoking and alcohol.

You can try the infections life Steroid objections and Platelet rich plasma injections. These injections have very good effect for about 3 to 4 months.

Wear soft insoles in your shoes. Do foot stretching exercises after consulting with your Doctor or Physiotherapist.

Injections and surgery are the last options in unremitting Plantar fascitis. Kindly discuss with your Doctor about the same.

I hope I have answered your query.

Thanking you.

Regards,

Dr. Aashish Raghu
