Very good question.
The POLYPS are usually swelling of the normal mucosal lining and are hormone dependent in uterus. Meaning they will appear in different according to the hormonal cycle stages.
So it is possible that the single polyp which was found on surgery was big enough or has undergone such changes that it could not vanish with hormonal changes. This is the one which needs to be removed and subjected to histological examination.
